The Good News About Jesus
Apr 4th, 2011 by Eric Begley

There is a good news that many people know.  All over the world, through faith alone with guiding direction of The Holy Spirit of God, people come to know something called The Gospel.  The Gospel is literally “good news” about Jesus Christ and how He came to die for our sins. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, believing in Him and following our living God, who came to earth, was crucified, and rose from the grave again.  Not even the chains of death could hold Him!!

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23)

Is this the only way to heaven, you ask?  Yes it is

Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ (John 14:6)

Truly powerful and amazing stuff isn’t it?  That someone who you do not even know came 2000 years before you were even born to die for you?  I know we Christians sometimes say that He died for our sins, but He also died for yours too!!!  That’s right.

So, how can you come to know Jesus Christ as your own personal savior?  That part starts off pretty easy!!!

If it is in your heart to known Christ Jesus, as it has happened to all born again Christians, then you should start out by praying on it.  Something like:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, unworthy of eternal life on my own.  I believe that You died on the cross to forgive me of my sins.  I ask you to forgive me, and help me as I turn from my old life of sin, and give You control of my life.  I receive You as my Lord and Savior.  Thank you for saving me.  The rest of my life I will live for you.  Amen

That’s how it starts.  From that beautiful moment, you are saved forever, Praise The Lord!!!  When you invite Jesus into your heart and decide to live for Him, you need someone to talk to about it, and you also need The Bible.  The word of scripture is your authority once you receive Jesus.  From the moment you are saved, you should hunger to know more about God and His beautiful plan.

If you need someone to help guide you through the process of salvation after being saved, we urge you to contact us.  Go to the Contact page to get in touch with someone that can help you through this wonderful time in your life!!!

Rob Bell: If you haven’t heard of him yet… GOOD!!
Mar 31st, 2011 by Eric Begley

Caution!! Not everybody is going to like this article

I recently heard of a guy named Rob Bell, whose name I only knew vaguely and in passing had heard. I was a little more familiar with the term “emergent church” but really was not familiar with the meaning of the term. Well as I researched both of these topics today because of a blog I stumbled across, I came to some alarming and disturbing things about these two things.

My understanding from the blog I read was that he has been globe trotting, talking on every news channel and morning show that will have him on (MSNBC, CNN, THE TODAY SHOW, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, ETC) not to mention religious publications that have quoted him including Christianity Today, Relavant Magazine, etc). So, I began researching more into this guy that I was seeing all over the internet… I hope that I’ve gotten to the core of the issue before any of you have exposed yourself to what this man and his church have to say!!!

Ok… I have read their “narrative theology” page hosted on Rob’s website. Based on that, here are some issues that I found with what it says as follows:

“Jesus came to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted and set captives free, proclaiming a new arrival of the kingdom of God, bringing about a new exodus, and restoring our fractured world.”

Creationism
Mar 28th, 2011 by Eric Begley

How the Earth was created is an issue that can drive people insane just debating it.  In reality, the debate itself is not a big deal among believers, we accept that no one has all the answers and we can just ask when we meet God anyway.  The problem is that too many times Christians get sucked into arguments that cannot be won for one reason or another.  That is why it is so important to be cautious when politely expressing what you believe, so here are some tips when talking about creation with unbelievers:

1.  DONT argue. Arguing is the wost thing that you can do.  Sometimes it can be tempting to try and help someone understand what The Bible has to say about creation.  The problem is that other people think they already understand this, many atheists have read portions of The Bible, at least until they find something they argue against.  Not to mention part of our jobs as Christians is to win people to The Lord by witnessing to them, you can’t do that if you get upset or do something not-so-Christian-like.  You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.
